How are international import charges handled?

When an order ships under DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) terms, applicable import charges are generally collected in advance and handled during customs clearance. Under DAP (Delivered At Place) terms, the recipient may be asked to pay applicable charges to the carrier or customs authority before delivery. Will I receive tracking information?
